Cairns Region

The gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and Queensland’s tropical North, Cairns is a laid-back city best enjoyed outdoors. You’ll find brilliant cafés, bustling markets and plenty of beaches and islands nearby to explore. Relax by a resort pool or spend your days exploring this tropical oasis.

Tropical North Queensland is a great destination for a self-drive holiday, with so many places to see you’ll not want to stay in one place. You can hire a car at Cairns Airport or at many other major centres. You’ll need a 4WD if you want to reach the most remote regions of Cape York, which is one of Australia’s great driving adventures.

Daintree Region

A forest so spectacular, Sir David Attenborough called it “the most extraordinary place on Earth.” The creeping vines and lush green canopy of the Daintree Rainforest have been growing for more than 180 million years. That’s right – it’s the world’s oldest tropical rainforest by an impressive 10 million years, so it’s no wonder that visitors can feel the ancient energy with every step. Just as special as the forest itself are the experiences you’ll find within it, from crocodile spotting to spearfishing. Indulge in nature’s healing properties at a luxury spa, float gently down the river on a raft or soak up generations-old knowledge from the area’s traditional custodians, the Kuku Yalanji.

Health and Wellbeing

While basking under a waterfall or simply being in the ancient rainforests of Tropical North Queensland may be a form of meditation or rejuvenation on their own, why not take that relaxation a step further by booking into one of the revitalising spas peppered through the region?
