4 Day Coral Sea Trip
One lovely Thursday morning some eager beavers flew into Lizard Island to join Spirit Of Freedom on a four-day expedition out to the Coral Sea.
Come the afternoon we’d done two dives on the upper Ribbon Reefs and soon made way for Osprey Reef.
As the sun rose over Osprey we were already gearing up for an early morning drift, a good way to get the blood pumping first thing.
We had a further four dives over the course of the day all at different locations including a night dive.
All had a good nights rest as we sat on our overnight mooring in the protection of the reef.
Saturday was another action packed day starting off with another drift along Marlin Wall followed by another drift on Soft Coral Wall.
After lunch it was time for the notorious shark attraction dive on North Horn where more than twenty sharks showed up for a piece of the action.
To end what had been a stellar couple days at Osprey Reef we dived False Entrance before making way for the Ribbon Reefs on Saturday night.
We had a very special dive first up at a site never dived before as it requires the right conditions and a certain level of divers, a deep bommie littered in corals. Then we did two dives on Steve’s Bommie which never ceases to amaze even the most travelled diver.
Our fourth dive of the day, fifteenth of the trip was at Flair Point at the bottom of Ribbon #3. An easy shallow relaxing bay dive to top off what has been an epic few days.
Sunday evening we all enjoyed a fabulous Aussie style BBQ as we shared a drink together under the setting sun as Spirit Of Freedom sailed back to Cairns.
Many Thanks to all that joined us for a memorable trip.
