4 Day Coral Sea Trip 28
On Thursday the 11th of October several cool customers flew up to Lizard Island to join Spirit Of Freedom and her crew, with the weather Gods in our favour we had an epic four-day adventure out to the Coral Sea ahead of us.
After a quick pit stop at Ribbon Reef #9 on Thursday afternoon Big Poppa T was gunning for the Big Three! With a day at each planned we dived Osprey, Bougainville and Holmes Reefs over the weekend. All these reefs are giant seamounts rising up from over 1000m in depth and are located more than 100 Nautical miles east of the Northern Queensland coastline. Each day superseded the last starting with a couple drifts along North Horn of Osprey Reef and the shark feed as well before a night dive in the channel. Bougainville has some of the best coral cover while supporting a huge array of marine life all the while accommodating several swim throughs and a couple wrecks. Our final day of diving at Holmes was an absolute blast kicking it off at Tuna Towers before scooting over to Amazing Caves with both sites living up to their names. To top it all off we dived a pinnacle within Holmes Reefs, which attracts all walks of life and is home to beautiful soft corals and large Gorgonian Fans. With a long overnight steam back to Cairns on Sunday night we had a fun evening to complement a fantastic trip with some fabulous people.
Many thanks to all who joined us and until next time,
