4 Day Coral Sea
On Thursday morning the staying on passengers managed to touch land for the first time in 3 days by going for a walk on Lizard Island doing the Chinaman’s Ridge walk and learning some of the history of the island during it.
Once the walk was over it was time to head back to Spirit and await the new passengers.
The new passengers arrived excited and full of anticipation. We started off with 2 afternoon dives and a night dive in the Ribbon Reefs, before heading out to Osprey for the next 2 days.
The crossing was fairly calm which meant everyone was up and raring to go for Ospray in the morning, which first up was a military precision live drop dive, which got the adrenalin pumping for everyone, especially as the current picked up towards the end. We then did False Entrance, Secret Caves and finished the day on a Spirit favorite Admiralty, where the passengers had swim throughs with baby white tip sharks swimming around them.
The next day we spent the morning moored up at North Horn wall to get the best possible views of the sharks that could be about. We started the day with tender drops for a drift dive on Blue Marlin Wall, where one of our passengers got to see a rare sighting of a hammerhead. Second dive up was the spectacular shark feed dive where we had 30 grey reef sharks swimming around. 3rd dive of the day was the second tender drop for the day on Soft Coral wall. The final dive on a site called The Edge, 3 lucky passengers got to see 2 manta rays swimming right by the boat.
We then started an overnight steam back into the ribbon reefs where we did our final day of diving, with 2 of Steve’s Bommie, Joanie’s Joy and finishing up on Flair Point.
We had a wonderful trip with lots to see.
Thank you to the passengers for coming on board.
