3 Day Cod Hole and Ribbon Reefs 19

A sunny Monday in Cairns as 26 guests boarded Spirit Of Freedom before heading out to the reef for a wonderful 3 day Cod Hole Trip.

The first check out dives went well at Saxon Reef, Turtle Bommie where we spotted our first reef sharks and turtles.
We had rather windy conditions for the Tuesday with 25-30knots so it was going to be a windy day for us all however we still hit our favourite sites along the ribbons. Starting off at Steve’s Bommie, with amazing visibility of 40m-50m then we spent the day heading up north as we moved to different sites. Enjoying the variety that the ribbons offer us. Pinnacles, Walls and coral gardens and then as the sun set we finished off with a night dive at Challenger Bay. A great day filled with a array of reef life.

The following day we woke up for another full day of diving, starting off at The Cod Hole where the visibility was exceptional about 60+M. We fed our little potato friends before heading off to explore the site. Where we found reef sharks, mauri wrass and sweet lips. Then down we went to the amazing Google Gardens to prove the GBR still offers amazing coral! We found Cuttle Fish everywhere and enjoyed cruising around the healthy coral life. We finished off at Ligth house Bommie for a double dive where we were all able to spend some time with the green turtles and sea snakes. We had a little bit of current running, which allowed for some spectacular visibility and an abundance of marine life. Barracuda, Jacks, Grey Reef Sharks, Bumphead Parrot Fish, Anthias, Fusiliers, Snapper and so much more!

With all the diving complete we made our way to Lizard Island to enjoy a fun night onboard with another wonderful feast prepared by our chef Hanna and some fun time reminiscing about the last few days of underwater adventures.

Thanks to the wonderful guest for a great Trip
