Thu 30th December 2010 - Mon 3rd January 2011

We couldn't have found a better group of guests to bring in the New Year with us, on our Coral Sea trip! We started our trip with two lovely dives at Pixie Gardens. All guests had a great time participating in our ‘safety sausage sizzle'; which involved practicing inflating their safety sausages. After our orientation dives we were ready to head out to Osprey to play with the big stuff!

Friday morning, we began our dives with a drift on the ‘Blue Marlin wall' at North Horn. After second breaky, we did our Shark Feed. Everyone was very excited, as the sharks put on an excellent performance. We moved on for our afternoon and night dives at The Gap and Admiralty. All were beautiful dives to end off 2010. That night quite a few of the hardcore guests stayed up to see in the New Year. Our fun-loving, but responsible celebrators, stopped drinking champagne early in the evening and had a midnight cheers with coke, as they all were all diving very early the following day.

New Years day we commenced the dives nice and early at False Entrance. False Entrance was a lovely dive, with gorgeous soft corals down deep and plenty of fish just waking up to begin their busy day. After False Entrance we went for a dive at Silver City. A few of the guests were lucky enough to see a school of at least 60 baby grey reef sharks. In addition, Silver City lived up to its reputation as a Silver Tip shark cruised by to check out the divers. In the afternoon at Castles, we attempted to have a group shot of the guests holding up a ‘Happy New Year' sign. We had a good time, but there are a few kinks that need to be worked out and perhaps next year we'll have to find some more solid letters! We finished off the first dive day of the year with another dive at Castles, where a couple of passengers spotted a Manta Ray! We had an early night while the boat crew took us back to the Ribbon Reefs.

We woke up Sunday morning to find ourselves at the world famous Steve's Bommie. As always, Steve's Bommie was a great hit. Many smiling faces recounting their sightings of massive Stonefish, a huge school of Big-Eye trevally, and two of our Brazilian guests even saw a Manta Ray! In the afternoon, we finished off with some quite but very pretty dives at Flare Point and Century Bay. At Century Bay we found a beautiful baby Leopard Shark, who let us get right up close for pictures.

What a fantastic trip with a fantastic group of people. We wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year! Thank you!
