Spirit of Freedom - TRIP Gallery

Mon 29th November 2010 - Thu 2nd December 2010

We had a wonderful group of mixed very experienced, and some, well not so experienced, but extremely brave, and ready to take on any challenges our dives had to offer. We started the trip with some nice, cruisy check out dives on Saxon Reef and then steamed all night up to the top of the Ribbon Reefs.

Tuesday morning we had a fabulous time diving the Codhole. The visibility was fantastic! After our first lovely dive exploring the diverse coral and fish life, we all got together for a beautiful cod feed. Our usual dominant Potato Cod had returned, and was very cooperative in putting on an up-close and personal performance. A smaller cod was also hanging around, trying to get himself into mischief.

We moved on from the Codhole to a brand new dive site we've discovered, which our Skipper has named Scorpio Sunrise (something to do with his birthday - happy birthday Cameron!). Scorpio Sunrise is a very beautiful and unique pinnacle, which I'm sure we will be returning to in the future.

We finished our dives on Tuesday at Challenger Bay. The night dive was a massive hit, especially from the surface. We had thousands of baitfish attracted to the spot light at the back of the boat, which attracted countless big eyed and giant trevally, which in turn, attracted many bronze whalers! Our guests were very entertained as they watched the hungry whalers come right up to the surface. These sharks were so friendly they even gave one of our guests a helping hand (or fin) up the ladder!

With three days of absolutely fantastic weather, we finished our dives on Wednesday with some pinnacles and two lovely afternoon dives at Snake Pit. Matty cooked up an enormous barbeque and the guests partied the night away! Thanks to everyone on board.
