Thu 9th September 2010 - Mon 13th September 2010

Welcoming aboard a big spread of international guests, we headed out to Monolith between Ribbon Reefs 9 and 10. Coming to visit us while we were getting into the diving groove were a few Grey Whalers, and some rapid moving Spanish Mackerel. More Barramundi than I've ever seen, and an inquisitive Maori Wrasse.

Dive into the Cod Hole first thing in the morning to get everyone started, and next with the Cod Feed. Many kisses were dished out, and even little Grumpy came in to sneak a cheeky pilchard or 2... Two Towers had it fantastic array of schooling fish, Coral Trout and Sea Snakes descending on the divers like leaves off a tree. Challenger for the Night Dive, a lot of nervous face there at the briefing. Brave faces entering the water. Parrot fish in their Bubbles, little Shrimps scuttling in the coral. I watched the frenzy of Big-Eye Trevally feeding at the back of the boat turn into a washing machine as 2 Grey Whalers charged through in an attempt to snatch a careless fish. These guys circled at the back of the boat until they were frightened off by Ally, who was unaware of their presence, and probably grateful she was given her apprehension prior to the dive. Came out beaming and bursting with enthusiasm. Another sensational night dive for the Great Barrier Reef. At Pixie Wall we were watched by a Giant Cuttle Fish as we battled the currents, but not at Dynamite Pass where the current took us ripping back to Spirit.

Well done Michel for your 1000th dive out here with us, hopefully thousands more. Congratulations to Robert & Bronwen on completing an Advanced course on board, but more importantly thank you for spending your Honeymoon out here. Best wishes from all the crew, and see you on the beach.
