Thu 5th August 2010 - Mon 9th August 2010

A beautiful day at Lizard Island to welcome aboard a full contingent of guests. What a great bunch! A scattering from the Northern Hemisphere; Europe, UK, US, but the Aussies were the dominant divers with a squad from Harbour Dive in Melbourne braving the waters... All great divers. All great fun.

Such an action packed trip, I don't know where to start! After our introductions to the crew and vessel, we made our way over to the Monolith for a couple of de-rust dives to get everyone in the rhythm for the trip. The Pixie System had so much to offer the next day with Giant Cuttlefish, Pipe Fish, Anemones, Clams, Shrimp Goby hard at the Spring cleaning, and some Juvenile Sweetlips amongst the Staghorn. Very lucky for these guys here getting both a Cod Feed and a Shark Feed! It was game on with the Cod, and one of the little guys running off with the feed glove.

A rough night over the ocean out to Osprey had a few people churning the Butterfly Fish in their stomaches. But it was soooo worth it! Sensational diving; Silvertips cruising the North Horn Feed behind the army of Grey Whalers. Ganden Eels and Scorpion Fish at Castles. Pyramid Butterflys and Neon Fusileers hanging off The Gap.... Drifting out over a wall to nowhere. In the deep, can still see up to the boat, makes you wonder what's down there looking up at you...?

A real bump and grind back to the Ribbons, and although you could see on some faces that they hadn't had a good rest, possibly tried to turn themselves inside-out, there was always a smile and an enthusiastic cheer for the adventures beholden of each new dive site! Steve's Bommie allowed a fantastic photo opportunity for many divers along side a Hawhsbill Turtles' Cloaca (bum) as she went head-down tail-up eating the algae on top bommie. A pair of Wobbegongs and many other schooling fish circling in the blue. For a special treat, Cam took the divers out for an amazing drift dive in a beautiful area not often seen. I can only go on what I've heard, as even I have not yet visited this exclusive site. You lucky divers. The Sun even turned up to brighten every ones' day. And we could trust you all not to damage the environment. Back to Cairns on a smother ride than the last two nights.
