Spirit of Freedom - TRIP Gallery

Mon 12th July 2010 - Thu 15th July 2010

Twenty three brave sailors joined us on our trip up to Lizard Island this week. Our group consisted of divers and snorkellers from all over the globe; in addition, we were lucky enough to be joined by some junior scuba divers for a bit of entertainment. The most junior of our divers was a courageous young man of 13, who fearlessly conquered the ocean for the first time, and didn't put a fin wrong! A second courageous young man on board celebrated his 50th birthday. Our chef, Andrew, baked a masterpiece of a cake, which was beautiful to look at but even better to eat. Even while celebrating his big day, Ross managed to complete his enriched air diver certification (not such an easy task on such a momentous occasion).

The passengers voted on their favourite dive sight, and the final result was a tie between Two Towers and Pixie Pinnacle. As always, Pixie Pinnacle provided a stunning dive: Colourful fish, beautiful coral, massive schools of big eye trevally and barracuda. Hands down, a great dive, unless, of course, you're competing against the majestic Minke whales! Yet again, our Minke friends put on quite a show for us at Two Towers. The whales showed off as they belly rolled, and swam directly and the passengers. They were feeling very playful indeed, and boldly interacted with our group. It was an incredible experience that will never be forgotten! We were very grateful to all our guests who so politely followed the rules, and were, therefore, able to have such a close encounter. All in all, it was a successful and enjoyable trip, and we are looking forward to seeing all of you again!
