Day 1 and we leave Cairns on a bee line to Norman Reef and the beautiful Caves. Turtles, sharks, rays and the all the usual suspects including anemone clowns, parrot fish, wrasse and more. A great way to get back into the water.

Day 2 and we arrive at the gorgeous Cod Hole at sun up. Two dives at this amazing site produced some amazing potato cod experiences with around 6 cod joining us for the feed. Clear waters made for some perfect pictures. Our next port of call was Two Towers where sea snakes, schools of chevron barracuda, mangrove jacks, GTs, schools of blue lined snapper and more were all hanging onto the structure as the current slowly rolled around the site. On the way back up the mooring line we were given the surprise of a lifetime when two gigantic minke whales greeted us, coming in close to eyeball the divers on the line. An unforgettable experience. Challenger Bay was next. Such a great way to relax after a big day of diving. After taking a stroll through the coral gardens we jumped back in on night fall for dive under the stars. Free swimming moray eels, GTs, red bass, white tips, grey whalers and all sorts of cool little crustaceans were found.

Day 3 was a bright and early start on Pixie Pinnacle, an amazing site that has an abundance of macro life thriving on the bommie. It wasn't just the macro that brought smiles but the large minke whale that eyeballed the lucky. Next was Rod's Rock. The schools of barracuda and jacks had everybody excited, but what really got hearts pumping were the two devil rays that lazily hung around divers, and of course the four massive minke whales that glided gracefully passed the divers while they were hanging on the line during their safety stop. Dynamite Pass was next on the hit list. A strong rating 3 current shot divers along the gorgeous wall. All sorts of life could be seen in the crystal 40m vis. A large cuttlefish posed elegantly for divers at the end of the dive. Last but certainly not least was the famous Snake Pit. Sea snakes, massive shoals of fish, vibrant coral, a huge loggerhead turtle, hundreds of feather stars, and of course another amazing minke whale encounter. Divers hung on the mooring line during their final safety stop as two whales played happily around them.

It has been an amazing trip with some epic minke encounters. Thank you to all our guests who have made this a trip of a lifetime.

Congratulations Tatsuo on his 100th dive. Chicka on completing her Advanced Open Water Course. Also Maria for completing her Advanced and Nitrox course. A big Happy Birthday to Ryoichi on his 68th.
