Mon 16th April 2012 - Thu 19th April 2012

As we embark on our 3-day trip to the cod hole & ribbon reefs the excitement was brewing from our keen group of new divers, a great mix of people from all corners of the globe. Our first stop to Saxon reef to do two checkout dives at coral gardens, waiting for us at the bottom of the mooring blocks a beautiful Hawks bill turtle, barracuda, barramundi cod and some rather curious White tip reef sharks and a fusion of colour provided by chromis and damsel fish in and amongst the coral.

Bright and early we arrive at the Cod hole situated at the top of Ribbon Reef number 10 to do two exciting dives. The cod feed was a roaring success with lots of inquisitive Potato cod joining the feed along with some other opportunistic Red bass. Flowery cod Reef Sharks and Loads of schooling fish brought out by the current (strong enough to bring out the fish but not too strong for our divers). Our next stop was Two towers always a popular dive amongst the passengers and crew alike, a Large variety of hard & soft corals, nudibranch & flatworm and anemone fish provided some awesome macro photography and for some of our divers it was a first to time see sea snakes, so our resident olive sea snakes put on a great show. Off to Challenger bay we go to do our afternoon and night dive both dives were great and the night dive proved to be superb with our divers spotting a large number of different species, squid, lion fish, thousands of crustaceans, parrot fish hiding inside the protective mucous bubble and a few moray eels out and about hunting on the reef. Off to bed we got to recharge the batteries for another day of diving
Waking up to a dazzling sun rise was a treat for everyone and a fantastic start to the day, we begin the days diving at pixie reef, on the morning dive at pixie wall was host to a nice array of damsel & chromis as well as some brightly coloured Bass lets and Anthias, coral groupers and rock cod were hidden amongst the reef waiting for some unsuspecting prey, but defiantly the highlight of the dive was the sightings of the Ornate ghost pipe fish and Devil ray. Our last two dives of the trip were planned for Lighthouse Bommie and Dynamite pass, at the always amazing Lighthouse a fury of blue lined snapper and trevally out in the blue and the marine life surrounding the Bommie was a macro fiesta with Pie fish, Blennies, Lizard fish Golden sweeper and some very cool nudibranchs, a massive green turtle was just hanging out on the bommie getting a bit of a cleaning from some willing butterfly fish and letting us eager divers get some close up photos without being disturbed by our presence. The last dive of the trip at the adrenalin pumping Dynamite pass to do a super thrilling drift dive & snorkel, a ripping current gave us all an extremely lazy but fun dive just gliding through the water along the wall an excellent way to end our 3 day diving adventure.

A very big thanks you to all our passengers and we hope to see you all in the near future.

Congratulations to all of our new certified Nitrox divers, Sabrina, Ray, Glenn & Breon
