DIVING THE – CORAL SEA
Beyond the continental shelf that harbours the GBR, lie the isolated reef systems and crystal clear waters of Australia ’s Coral Sea . This is home territory for huge schools of pelagic fish and sharks in an undersea world of mountains, pinnacles and sheer walls laced with golden gorgonian fans and rising from thousands of feet below.  Be prepared for an amazing range of diving experiences on your 4 day /4 night adventure to Australia ’s Coral Sea . Your first day will include a couple of orientation dives on the outer reefs of the GBR before travelling out to the oceanic wilderness of the Coral Sea . Destinations will vary and be selected according to the prevailing weather in order to provide you the best diving, most comfortable conditions and maximum dive time. Sites will vary from 1,000 metre walls to magical coral gardens to lone seamounts emerging from the ocean depths. Renown for crystal clear water with average visibility well in excess of 40 metres, a diver can appear suspended in air against a vertical wall laced with massive gorgonian fans. Sharks and schooling pelagics cruise through an amazing display of gorgonians, sea whips, and bright yellow soft corals, while nudibranch, anemones, unusual tropical fish, invertebrates, and huge schools of fish provide a rich variety of marine life.

DIVING THE
COD HOLE AND RIBBON REEFS

The Great Barrier Reef is a broad chain of 2,900 individual reefs and is the Earth’s largest structure built by living organisms, being clearly visible from space. Here you will discover an ecosystem of unsurpassed marine diversity and exquisite natural beauty. The 3 day/ 3 night dive adventure on board Spirit of Freedom will take you to the famous Cod Hole and Ribbon Reefs of the GBR. The Ribbon Reefs stretch north to the Cod Hole in a turquoise chain of individual coral reefs where formations vary from beds of huge plate corals and coral gardens to isolated pinnacles to walls and channels for that perfect ‘drift dive’. You will encounter a resident family of giant potato cod at the world famous Cod Hole, while the ‘Ribbons’ are a photgraphers dream with clouds of colourful tropical fish, anemones, cruising pelagics, moray eels, and the giant Napoleon Wrasse.

• Day 1. 2 dives on the Outer GBR. Overnight travel to the Coral Sea
• Day 2 & 3. Coral Sea Diving
• Day 4. Coral Sea or Ribbon Reef Diving. Overnight steam to Cairns .
• Day 5. 3 hours free to explore Cairns City . 2 dives on the Outer GBR. Overnight travel to the Cod Hole
• Day 6. 4 dives at the Cod Hole and Northern Ribbon Reefs
• Day 7. 4 dives on the Ribbon Reefs. Overnight travel to Cairns
• Day 8. Breakfast onboard. Disembark 07.30am Cairns .
